What You Need To Know About Obamacare In Arizona

Obamacare is Federal law that is intended to improve access to health insurance for American citizens. It does so by mandating health insurance companies to provide certain levels of coverage. Some of these minimum levels of coverage include maternity benefits, emergency services, and prescription medication.

Obamacare also mandates that insurance companies spend at least 80% of premiums on medical care and improvements and prevents insurance companies from unreasonable rate increases. This is all a part of the Affordable Care Act’s mission to make health care affordable and fair to those who face financial difficulties.

How Much Does It Cost?

Obamacare ranges in cost depending on the plan that you choose. There are four plans available. These are the bronze plan, the silver plan, the gold plan, and the platinum plan.

The plans offer different percentages of coverage based on the premium. The bronze plan is the cheapest, but it has the highest costs when you need medical care.

On the bronze plan, the insurance company will pay for 60% of the medical expenses while you cover 40%. This is a great option if you are young and don’t require comprehensive coverage.

The silver plan has a higher monthly premium than the bronze and covers 70% of medical expenses while you take care of 30%.

On the gold plan, insurance companies are expected to cover 80% and you cover 20%.

If you take the platinum plan, which has the highest monthly premium, the insurance company covers 90% of the costs while you cover 10%.

In some cases, you may be eligible for premium tax subsidies which reduce the cost of your monthly premium. To qualify for tax subsidies your income must fall between $12 880 and $51 520 or 100% and 400% of the FPL (Federal Poverty Level).

If you take the bronze and silver plans, you may even qualify for a zero premium in terms of the American Rescue Plan Act
